Oreo Truffles

Oreo Truffles

Now these are quite a ball of goodness, and again, not the nutritional kind!! I do love to bake, so here is my latest adventure.

Oreo Truffles

Ingredients

250g Cream Cheese
2 packets of 150g Oreo's
Chocolate to coat balls - This is up to you what type you want to use, I used plain and dark, so I used two slabs of chocolate. Whatever you use, make sure you have two, just in case, you dont want to run out of chocolate.

Method

Crush oreo's in a big bowl, with a glass is easiest. Crush unitl your desired consistency, chunky with a few pieces, or really fine. For finer crumbs, it's easier to put cookies in a food processor.

Next, add softened cream cheese. I find trying to mix it with a spoon would take about half an hour longer, so just use your hands, it will all come together in 5 minutes. Mix until both ingredients are well combined. Then put it in the fridge for 20 minutes so it can harden up a little bit so you can roll balls easier.

Take the mixture out and start rolling balls however big you would like them to be. I made them about teaspoon sized. Place on a tray lined with baking paper, and once you're done stick them back in the fridge to set again.

Just before you take the balls out of the fridge to start coating, melt the chocolate however you like to do it; microwave or double boil on the stove. I microwave in 15 second bursts, and stirring in between. Be extra careful not to burn the chocolate.

Roll the balls in chocolate and place onto the baking paper again. You can do whatever you like from this point. I did half plain chocolate, half dark. And on each one I drizzled the opposite chocolate on top. If I had white chocolate I would have drizzled white on top, as it looks fantastic. When you're done place them back into the fridge to set. You may keep them in there if its quite warm outside, otherwise they may soften a bit too much but you can decide that for yourself, maybe you like it that way?

It can look a little messy, but after they've cooled completely you can transfer them to a nicer looking serving dish

Enjoy xx
They're quite a rich little sucker, but for a chocolate lover this is just perfect!

Ps. If you have any left over melted chocolate, why not pour it into an ice cube tray or any small moulds so once they're set you can take them and keep for eating later. I used a patty pan tray.
